Metal therapy Metal Therapy Body Reshaping

In the world of aesthetic well-being, certain techniques are making a lasting impact. Metal therapy is one of them: precise, fluid, effective and increasingly popular with professionals and private individuals alike.

01 - Definition

La metal therapy (also spelled Metal Therapy / Ice Body Sculpting ) is a massage and body contouring technique that uses anatomical metal instruments applied to the skin with specific cosmetic treatments. The aim is to stimulate circulation, promote lymphatic drainage, firm tissues and improve the appearance of the figure.

Contrary to what one might imagine, this is not an esoteric practice. In its modern professional version, developed in Colombia in particular, the metal therapy is above all a precise mechanical protocol, based on the gesture, the direction of the manoeuvres and the coherence of the protocol.

Definition

Aesthetic modelling technique using anatomical metal instruments applied with specific cosmetics to drain, tone and reshape superficial and semi-profound tissues.

02 - Origins

Metalotherapy was first developed in Colombia around twenty years ago, in centres specialising in aesthetic remodelling. It first emerged as a complement, then as an alternative to madero therapy, with which it shares the philosophy of instrumented manual treatment.

Why metal rather than wood? There are several technical reasons for this craze:

❄️ Natural cryo effect

Metal keeps the cold in for longer, enabling effective cryo protocols after refrigeration.

Smooth glide

The instruments glide over the skin with incomparable fluidity, without absorbing the cosmetics applied.

🎯 Anatomical accuracy

Each tool is designed to adapt to the curves of the body and work on specific areas with precision.

🧼 Optimum hygiene

Unlike wood, metal does not absorb oils and can be disinfected perfectly between treatments.

03 - The instruments

A metal therapy treatment cannot be improvised. Each instrument has a precise function, and the quality of manufacture is non-negotiable.

1
The Mushroom

Activation tool to be used first. Its rounded shape is ideal for large areas (back, thighs, arms). Circular and back-and-forth vertical movements warm the skin, stimulate micro-circulation and prepare the tissues for in-depth work.

2
The Cup (Swedish Cup)

Creates a gentle mechanical suction effect. Ideal for loosening tissue, stimulating microcirculation and gently initiating drainage.

3
The striated roller

Activates blood circulation, works on localised clusters and prepares the area for in-depth sculpting.

4
The modelling board

The ultimate sculpting tool. Sculpts contours, lifts the abdomen and flanks, and assists drainage towards the lymph nodes.

5
The cube roller

Made up of several wooden cubes, it provides intense, invigorating stimulation for localised fat. The characteristic gesture: a dynamic, energetic upward movement of the wrist, repeated to effectively break down fatty deposits.

6
Y-shaped modelling board

Its Y shape naturally follows the curves of the body to sculpt contours with precision. Used as a finishing touch, it firms the tissues and supports drainage towards the lymph nodes with firm, upward movements.

7
Face Tools

Smaller and more precise, they stimulate skin tone, promote a radiant complexion and relieve congestion in sensitive areas.

04 - Benefits

Let's be clear: the metal therapy is neither magical nor medical. It acts mechanically on superficial and semi-deep tissues. Here are its real effects, recognised by practitioners:

🌊 Lymphatic drainage

The directional manoeuvres encourage natural drainage: lightness is restored and retention is reduced from the very first sessions.

💪 Tissue firming

Repeated protocols stimulate the fibres and visibly improve the appearance and tone of the skin.

🎯 Anti-cellulite action

Combined with exercise and a healthy lifestyle, metal therapy significantly improves the dimpled appearance.

❄️ Toning cryo effect

The cooled metal causes a vasoconstriction which tones and soothes the tissues deep down.

🤲 Muscular relaxation

The slow, rhythmic movements release muscular tension and create a lasting feeling of well-being.

Body contouring

After several sessions, the contours become more defined: abdomen, hips, thighs, the results become measurable.

05 - Protocol

A session lasts on average 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area treated. Immediate visible results are linked to drainage. For a lasting effect, a protocol of several sessions is necessary.

1
Mushroom activation

Circular movements over large surfaces to warm the skin, stimulate micro-circulation and prepare the tissues for in-depth work.

2
Swedish cup drainage

Cupping effect to loosen tissues, stimulate microcirculation and gently initiate lymphatic drainage.

3
Circulatory activation on the striated roller

Work with the striated roller to activate blood circulation and work on localised clusters before the in-depth modelling.

4
Targeted remodelling using a modelling board

Sculpting work on target areas: abdomen, flanks, thighs, buttocks. Firm, upward movements.

5
Decomposition of fats in roll cubes

Dynamic, energetic upward wrist movement to target and effectively break down localised fatty deposits.

6
Y-board finishing & carving

The Y shape hugs the body's curves to firm tissues and drain towards the lymph nodes. Upward movements follow the contours of the body.

7
Facial tools (if desired)

In addition, the facial tools help to tone the skin, promote a radiant complexion and relieve congestion in sensitive areas of the face.

06 - Metal therapy vs Madero therapy

These two techniques are often compared and even confused. In reality, they are additional. Experienced practitioners regularly combine them for optimum results.

07 - Contraindications

La metal therapy is a non-invasive technique, but it is not without precautions. Certain situations need to be avoided or adapted.

⚠ Contraindications
  • Pregnancy (any trimester)
  • Severe circulatory disorders
  • Dermatological pathologies active in the treated area
  • Phlebitis or history of thrombosis

  • Open wounds or skin irritations

If in doubt, medical advice should be sought before starting any metal therapy protocol.
